Typography & text
Sentence case is king
Never use Title Case for buttons, labels, or headers. It slows down reading speed by disrupting word shapes.

Create New Account
How to apply it
- 1
Set button and label copy to sentence case: Create new account, not Create New Account.
- 2
Capitalize only the first word and proper nouns.
- 3
Enforce via a lint rule or CMS transform, not manual review.
- 4
Audit existing headers and nav items for stray Title Case.
Why it works
Readers recognize whole words by their shape, the ascender and descender pattern, not letter by letter. Title Case flattens that shape by capitalizing every word, forcing the eye back into slower letter-by-letter decoding. Sentence case keeps only one capital, preserving the silhouette a fluent reader scans.
What breaks
Buttons and headers read slower and feel more formal than intended. Long labels like Create New Account From Existing Template become a wall of jarring capitals that stalls scanning at every capitalized word.
